Mission Statement: Brophy is a private, Jesuit, Catholic, college preparatory that is committed to the belief that all creation is a reflection of God’s love and presence which demands a passionate and generous response from the entire community. We are dedicated to students of all socio-economic backgrounds who have the potential and desire to maximize their God-given gifts. By creating an atmosphere for academic, emotional and spiritual growth, Brophy College Preparatory develops critically thinking, articulate, sensitive and aware students with a strong sense of self-worth. Through the process of nurturing the soul, Brophy offers these students an intimate relationship with God and inspires leaders who are devoted to the service of others in a global community.

Facts:

  • As a Catholic, Jesuit high school, Brophy educates young men to be intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving and committed to doing justice — the characteristics of the Jesuit-educated graduate at graduation.
  • Since 2014, Brophy has graduated more than 100 National Merit Finalists and National Merit Scholars. Typically, approximately one-third of each senior class graduates with Distinction — a weighted GPA of 4.0 or above — and 99% of Brophy graduates go on to four-year colleges and universities.
  • Brophy’s college preparatory curriculum offers Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Enrollment courses. The academic program includes classes that incorporate research and off-campus learning experiences such as AP Research and The Romero Program. A wide variety of fine arts classes challenge students creatively, and the Innovation Commons, an 11,500-square-foot maker space, provides opportunities for technological research and development.
  • Faith formation is centered in Brophy’s Office of Faith and Justice and permeates the student experience. There is weekly mass in Brophy Chapel and an all-school mass or prayer service monthly. Retreats are an important part of Jesuit education and Ignatian Spirituality; in addition to Kairos and Magis retreats, athletic teams, clubs and others regularly go on retreat to Manresa, Brophy’s retreat center outside of Sedona. Immersion trips and experiences also play an important role in forming Men for Others with students traveling around the country and the world to encounter and work with marginalized communities.
  • Students participate in an array of co-curricular activities including AIA and club sports, speech and debate, robotics, theatre, choir, Model UN, and Mock Trial. Approximately 100 clubs and organizations exist to support students’ wide range of interests. The student engagement arm of school activities is called The Stampede and incorporates all facets of student life at Brophy. The team mascot is the Bronco.
  • Brophy’s campuses include the main campus at Central and Highland avenues, the Graham Family Sports Campus at Seventh Street and Highland Avenue, and Manresa, Brophy’s retreat center located in Oak Creek Canyon outside of Sedona, Arizona.
  • In 2011, Brophy opened a tuition-free, on-campus middle school (grades six through eight), Loyola Academy, for students with limited resources who demonstrate academic promise. Five classes of Loyola Academy scholars have now gone through the seven-year program and graduated from Brophy.
  • As a Jesuit, Catholic school, students study, compete and serve AMDG — Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam — for the greater glory of God.
